‘Footprints in Memory’s Dust’
Les Mellet grew up in Subiaco, the youngest of five children. He left school
at 14 and went 'Bush'. He worked all over Australia on cattle and sheep
stations and in mining and exploration. Spent 20 years working overseas.
Started writing poetry again in 1991 for the first time since leaving school.
Loves being an Australian.
John Barnard completed his first composition in 1995 after
neglecting his music for many years. After two years of
preparation, his debut album 'Beyond The Clouds' was released in
Australia. During the following 5 years John produced three more CD
albums which seem to have enchanted listeners from around the world.
This recording happened in between the mainstream albums.
This album is very Australian and endeavours to capture the spirit of the
outback in both bush poetry and instrumental music. It contains three
instrumental tracks by John Barnard and features the beautiful and
powerful words written by Les Mellet.

‘The Changing Years’
'The Changing Years' was composed a year after 'Beyond The Clouds'. My
journey continues and this album reflects a lifting of my spirit. The titles
speak for themselves. It was time for me to look at who I really was and look
forward to the future with renewed hope. This album is sensitive, moody
and touching, with piano, flute and strings that connect with the inner self
to promote positive outcomes.
Following on from Beyond The Clouds, this is music to make you stop, feel
‘When Your Eyes Kissed Mine’
This album was composed within a week of meeting my wife. It really is self
explanatory and after listening to it you will no doubt share the swell of
emotion that I felt, after nearly 10 years of celibacy. We live in Geraldton,
Western Australia and have a young son.
I am not a religious person as such, but whilst composing these pieces I have
been concious of a spiritual presence many times which left a most profound
effect on me. This spiritual awareness has been retold to me many times by
others who find solace in my music

‘Araluen... a place of singing waters’
The concept of this album is a day at Araluen Botanic Park in Western
Australia and all the natural sounds that you hear were recorded in the park
and form a fabric into which the compositions are carefully woven.
This album recreates the harmonies, textures and the colours in a musical
image of the park that can be revisited and reflected upon many times. The
music is an expression of the serenity and ambience of Araluen.
Commissioned by British Airways, world wide, on all long haul flights, back to
back with 'Beyond The Clouds', also by John Barnard.
'Beyond The Clouds' is my debut album. It was two years in the making. I
trace my life back to my childhood and try to remember those early years
and the struggle I had with my emotions during an era when feelings were to
be repressed and not displayed.
Every piece talks to you, releasing you from the stresses of everyday life.
I really hope that you receive comfort from this music, as I did when
composing it. It has been described as an inspiring journey of personal
triumph over adversity. Soothing piano and drifting strings invite you to relax
and look at who you really are. Deeply moving, honestly introspective and
highly inspiring, this music will nourish and enhance your life.
I am a West Australian musician, who was
compelled to write my first piece of music in an
effort to express how I felt at that time.
My calming music speaks without speaking and
has uplifted or given comfort to many who have
sought to discover within and cannot find words
that possibly reveal their feelings and inner

“The moodiness of these sounds is so unashamed it almost creates a new art form in its own right”
